Building Resilience from the bottom up and the top down....a unique approach to treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder with Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Stress, physical abuse and emotional trauma, unresolved grief, past and present violence are major causes of physical problems and can develop into chronic pain and illness. Traditional Chinese Medicine is a medical system that recognizes the connection between body and mind.

Talk to your doctor or health care provider if you suffer from symptoms listed above. It is important to seek professional help. Usually Traditional Chinese Medicine therapy is used as a complementary treatment for ptsd and trauma; by resetting the nervous system and reducing physical symptoms & calming the mind the recovery period can be shortened.
Living with someone who is suffering from PTSD can be extremely stressful and emotional and physical exhausting. Talk to your doctor or other healthcare provider to discover the support resources for you.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is an intriguing and powerful ancient medicine system that can help treat PTSD as well as PTS and other trauma related mental health problems.

Definitions
Stress- A physical, mental or emotional factor that causes physical/mental/emotional tension
Trauma- the lasting physical and emotional effects of an event that is, or is perceived to be, life-threatening. Trauma occurs where there is more activation than can be discharged at the time, overwhelming the nervous system. Trauma lives in the nervous system, not the event.
Acute Stress and Trauma versus PTSD- Acute stress/trauma happen during or immediately after the event, and can be debilitating. PTSD becomes evident sometime after the event, and is not experienced by everyone that experiences trauma.
Secondary Trauma- indirect witnesses/volunteers/first responders are at risk for secondary trauma. Slow, and can be cumulative, yet very serious. Can take longer to notice/experience.
Trauma Triggers- is an experience that causes someone to recall a previous traumatic memory, although the trigger itself need not be frightening or traumatic and can be indirectly or superficially reminiscent an earlier traumatic incident. Trauma triggers may or may not
result in trauma activation. Triggers can stimulate the physical/emotional responses of the trauma even when there is no recall of that aspect of the trauma.
